Yamsi Buddy is a Chrome extension developed by Yamsi. This policy explains what happens to your data.
What is stored on your device. Your settings, chat history, notes, counter, free-trial start date, a random install ID, today's message count, your Pro licence key and (only if you choose the advanced "use my own key" option) your own AI API key are saved in your browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local). Uninstalling the extension deletes them.
Chat messages (included AI, the default). When you send a chat message, the extension sends your message, up to the last 10 messages of the conversation, a short instruction describing your buddy (its name and style), and either your Pro licence key or your random install ID to the Yamsi Buddy server (yamsi-buddy-license.vercel.app, hosted on Vercel). The server checks your licence or install ID, counts the message against your daily limit, and forwards the conversation to Google Gemini to get a reply, which it returns to you. If Gemini is unavailable or busy, the same conversation is sent instead to xAI (Grok) as a backup. The terms and privacy policy of Google (Gemini API) or xAI apply to the text sent to them. Our server does not save your chat messages or the replies.
What our server keeps. To enforce daily message limits, the server keeps short-lived counters (reset each day) keyed by a hash of your install ID, your licence ID, or a hash of your IP address. These counters contain no chat content. Our hosting provider (Vercel) may keep standard request logs, such as IP addresses and times of requests, for a limited period.
Using your own key (optional). If you turn on "use my own key", your messages, recent chat history and your key go directly from your browser to the one AI provider you select (Google Gemini, OpenAI, xAI or Anthropic), not to our server. That provider's privacy policy applies.
Voice. Hands-free voice uses Chrome's built-in speech recognition and speech synthesis. In Chrome, speech recognition may be processed by Google's speech service.
Camera (desktop app). Camera frames go to Google Gemini only when Camera is on and only with a sent message; not stored.
Payments. Pro costs US$7.99 for 31 days (monthly) or US$69.99 for 366 days (yearly) and does not renew automatically. Payment happens on Flutterwave's secure checkout website, not inside the extension. Our licence server checks the transaction with Flutterwave and shows you a licence key. We do not store your card details, name or email.
What we do not do. No accounts, no analytics, no ads, no tracking, no reading of web pages, files or email, no selling or sharing of data.
Children. Yamsi Buddy is not directed at children under 13.
